...sitting in the Apple Store in Palo Alto, when pjammer pops online. I pinged him to reconfirm our lunch plans for tomorrow, and we chatted for about ten minutes. Then I realised it was coming up 9 pm, and I'd probably get kicked out soon.

maradydd: ok, the apple store is closing
maradydd: back on from home
pjammer: Which apple store are you in?

At which point we both looked up.

And realised we were sitting next to each other.

I guess I pay even less attention to the rest of the world than I thought I did.

Or an Easy Online Cafe in England (happened to a mate of mine)

Or the one's in Oz (story on the web)

Or y'know, anywhere where they are web cafes and people...

Oh, no, I'm afraid not. The idea of internet cafes and stores has been around a long time, and this kind of thing has been happening on the Pacific Rim for years.

Although, girl, you have the most extreme example in my collection to date! ROFL!

Please don't take this the wrong way, but you've managed to catch one of the many reasons I refuse to get a cell phone. I've watched too many people do the same exact thing in public, and I know I'd be a poster child for the phenomenon.
