Props to Ken Schalk for getting me that copy of American Edit a few weeks ago; it's the only fucking thing keeping me sane at work today.

And, hey, y'know what? Mashups rock. Grab your own copy here, and a great big fuck you to the RIAA.

The bit in "Boulevard of Broken Songs" that parallels the chorus with "Summer of '69" blows my mind.

I'm sufficiently lacking in youth, coolness, or something elusive, to understand mashups.

Most of these songs to me are "Greenday mixed with something distracting."

Man, I fail.

I really like Boulevard of Broken Songs, mainly because I have a very fucked up deep connection to the song Wonderwall (popular the year my brother died).

Me, the Dr. Who song really gets me where it counts, but I'm a giant nerd like that. And I like how well they blend together.

Yeah, the Dr. Who song is a really good match -- plus I like how the last "holidaaaa aaa aaa aaa aaay" parallels Dalek-voice.

Uh, yeah. I do not lack a pattern-matching brain.

I have also noticed that hackers like mashups, and have my own thoughts on why that might be.
