Item the First: I sold "Render Unto Caesar" to The Fortean Bureau. It's a very short, odd little piece involving sainthood, genetics, and male pattern baldness. It should be up on March first.
Item the Second: Look, mom, I get to use old job skills! For the transcription factors project, I have to write some code to dig around in a postgres database of Medline abstracts and return all instances which contain thus-and-such transcription factor, with the name of the transcription factor highlighted. And this needs to be web-driven, so that our biologist can go through and indicate that yes, this abstract is the sort of thing he is looking for, or no, this other one is not, or kind of, the same word gets used multiple ways here. Hm. Didn't I do this back when I wrote that e-commerce package? Why, I think I did! (Um, except that time I used Access, VBScript and ASP; this time it'll be PostgreSQL, Python and PHP.)
Item the Third: Busy, busy week ahead. Must finish "The Gold-Bug Variations" by Friday, much homework to do, land navigation FTX this weekend. Should seriously consider cloning self.
