Five pages, tonight, on the novel which I promised myself I would do a chapter a month on. It wasn't what I wanted to be working on tonight, but I'll take it anyway. They're kind of rough, and certainly the opening sentence -- "I just don't like it there," Blonde Cuntrag whines, frowning tilt-headed at my end table. -- has got to be the most foul-mouthed opening sentence I've ever written. But Daniel's voice is ... interesting, and fun to write, though I doubt he'll get female editors on my good side.

Comps results are in. Here's how it broke down:

Phonology 1: Pass
Phonology 2: High Pass
Syntax 1: High Pass
Syntax 2: Pass

Alice saw me this afternoon and said that Syntax 2 would really have been "Pass-plus", i.e., in between Pass and High Pass, if they gave pluses and minuses, which they don't, but she wanted me to know. Ph34r my linguistic might.

All I can say is, fuck you, moron unbeliever faculty people. Fuck everyone who said "You can't possibly survive taking four classes, much less five, and still expect to pass your comps -- why don't you just take two instead?" Fuck you, fuck the horses you rode in on, I knew what I could do and I proved it. I beat out people who have been at this way longer than I have. I beat Sasa, I beat Leah, I had the best Phono 2 paper by agreement of both Jill and Jurek, I did what I came to do and I did it on my terms. Game over. I FUCKING WIN.
