Quick updates

me!
Very quick, as life just won't settle down -- but not in a bad way.

- Vacation rocked. I wish it'd been longer. I miss Colin terribly and can't wait for this fall. Gotta just keep busy and work hard, that way the semester will pass subjectively faster.
- The drive back here was also pretty cool. Found out that Natsuko is big into folklore, and we spent a good chunk of the drive swapping fairy tales.
- Classes this semester are gonna be c-h-e-e-p cheap. No text for phonology, one book for everything else (and I already had one of 'em). Woo! More money for me to blow on other stuff!
- I'm probably going to get a new office computer for free.
- New roommate is very interesting. She's from Venezuela, likes magical realism, is a musician, and is much more talkative than any of my previous roomies.
- Cathie said I can probably continue teaching for the dept. if I stay on for a second master's (perhaps by taking the classes I'd need to teach ESL). Also, apparently it is not considered tacky to start a PhD one place and then transfer.
- PT for ROTC started this morning and I can already tell that the use of my arms will be somewhat impaired for at least the first few weeks of the semester. I hate pushups.
- Two rejections on "Tiger, Tiger", from Fence and Glimmer Train. GT still has "Nothing Equals", and "Hammer, Lily, Blade" is out at Black Gate.
- I'm -> <- this close to done with "Laid", got another two or three scenes to do on "A Solicitation of Fairies", and started a new piece that's sort of a refiguring of Swan Lake. Fiction writing class starts tomorrow. *cracks knuckles*

OK, off to the SF meeting. More later!
